چکیده
The ideal biomaterials substitute for bone repair should possess the following characteristics: provide osteogenic, osteoinductive and osteoconductive properties; stimulate neo-angiogenesis process; absence of antigenic, teratogenic or carcinogenic reactions; avoid systemic toxicity complications; assure satisfactory support stability from mechanical properties point view; hydrophilic nature surface good interface with human bone; handling in clinical condition ability to be easy sterilized; able supplied sufficient quantities reduced costs. Despite years effort, perfect reconstruction material has not yet been developed; further effort is required make this objective feasible. aim article a contemporary comprehensive overview grafting materials that can applied treatment defects by clinicians orthopedics surgery, neurosurgery dentistry, discussing their properties, advantages disadvantages, illuminating present future perspectives field graft substitutes repair, needs advanced research.

Biomaterials for bone regeneration.
OBJECTIVE This article reviews the literature on biomaterials used for bone regeneration. MATERIAL AND METHOD A total of seventeen bibliographic sources were found using the MEDLINE database and to avoid the variability of the search terms the thesaurus Mesh was used. RESULTS These materials act essentially due to their osteoconductive ability, although their osteoinductive capacity is bein...
متن کاملBiomaterials for the Reconstructive Treatment of Periodontal Intrabony Defects. Part I. Bone Grafts and Bone Substitutes
Regeneration is defined as a reproduction or reconstruction of a lost or injured part in a way that both form and function of lost tissues are completely restored (Wikesjö and Selvig, 1999; Caton and Greenstein, 1993; Machtei, 1997; World Workshop in Periodontology, 1996). Regenerative periodontal therapy aims to predictably restore the tooth’s supporting apparatus which has been lost following...

Bone-grafting techniques either with autografts or allografts still represent a challenge for reconstructive surgery.Allografts and autografts are the current strategies for filling bone defects and subsequent repair but each have drawbacks. Synthetic bone-graft substitutes, developed in an effort to overcome the inherent limitations of autograft and allograft, represent an alternative strategy...
متن کاملBone-grafting and bone-graft substitutes.
Bone grafts are often necessary to provide support, fill voids, and enhance biologic repair of skeletal defects. Autogenous bone recovered from the patient’s own iliac crest is generally considered the gold standard of bone grafts. There is a need for alternatives, however, because of limited autograft quantities, donor site morbidity, and other problems including limited biologic performance. ...
